So a new year has begun and still I got up this morning and I wrote. And that is the plan for the next 365 days and the 365 after that. And, too, there is new, always new. I'm finishing some existing projects. I started one new musical in December, but otherwise have been very much in rewrite mode. As I come into the new year, I am wondering what new projects I will undertake or what might come my way. I am longing for a project of length. In my New Year's wishing shared last night with France, I spoke of something novel like. I'm not yet certain whether or not it will be or wants to be a novel. I am also intrigued by an idea I've begun, but barely, that feels very prose-like, but that, I think, wants to be performed, perhaps by me. In general, I am thinking too about the monologue form. I keep wanting to do things that maybe could be seen more quickly, on line, as opposed to waiting for a theatrical production. Could I write monologues and maybe scenes for the brilliant actors I know, shoot them and post them. Could that be a 2016 thing?
I am always on deadline, always working on multiple projects at once so it is a question of seeing when some space opens up. Which immediately makes me think of the two musicals that need page one re-writes. I think January and February needs time for whatever the new new thing is. March I will be in rehearsal in Los Angeles with Dinner at Home Between Deaths. Very excited about collaborating on that play. And then April and May will bring Spring and hopefully more time to explore the new thing. And garden.
All to be discovered. Which makes me happy. I feel blessed to be living this life.
