I'm writing from Barnard, Vermont where I am staying with Steve and Janet Andersen and working on The World Avoided. Steve was my economics professor at College of the Atlantic. He went on to work in the Stratospheric Ozone Unit at the Environmental Protection Agency and is an architect of the Montreal Protocol. The MP is the only climate agreement signed by every nation including Iraq (who gave Steve and award) and South Sudan. The MP has added years of life to the planet through phasing out ozone depleting substances. Steve convinced me the story was a play and I recognized that it was. So here we are working away. Reunited after so many years. He is actually loving thinking in terms of narrative and dialogue. A very different experience for him. We have already banged out a new much improved outline and next he will download more stories and events to me. In between work sessions, we feed the sheep and goat. I will add pictures of them later. We are eating very well and in general having a blast. The pictures below are: 1) The view from my working desk. The dark dot way out there are the neighbors horses. Sorry my photo skills by iPad are not sophisticated enough to make them bigger. 2) The room I am working in with the firing pellet wood stove. 3) The cozy cats.
